Frequently Asked Questions

The most common questions about my process, services, and working together.

About Me

What types of medical writing do you specialize in?

I work on a wide variety of medical, dental, and health content projects. Most often, my medical writing services include blogs, educational materials, articles, white papers, and web content such as landing pages, topic pages, and short-form copy like blurbs. I also offer editing and rewriting services to refine existing materials. While these are my main projects, my services aren’t limited to this list. I’m always happy to discuss other types of medical writing to meet your needs.

How long does it take to complete a project?

The timeline for completing any healthcare copywriting project depends on several factors, including the scope of work, the complexity of the content, and my current workload. Once I understand your specific needs, I’ll give you an estimated delivery date. I’ll also do my best to accommodate your timeline, and I can often adjust the schedule to match your priorities. Clear communication on both sides helps ensure that deadlines are realistic and met without sacrificing quality.

Can you provide writing samples?

Yes. While some of my previous work is protected by NDAs and cannot be shared, I can provide anonymized samples or discuss similar projects I have completed to give you an idea of my style and expertise. You will also find a selection of writing samples on my Portfolio page, where you can access links to published content in various formats and specialties.

How do you charge for your services?

I charge a comprehensive project rate that reflects various components, such as research, writing, and revisions. The total fee also depends on the type of content. For example, a typical 600-word blog post requires less time and complexity than a research-based white paper or case study. When I provide a quote, I always break down the costs so you can see exactly what’s included.

If you would like more specific pricing details, please complete the online Contact form, and I’ll get back to you shortly. You can also schedule a free consultation to discuss your project in more detail.

What is your professional and educational background?

I hold a PhD in Communication from the University of Oklahoma and have a strong background in health communication through both academic research and teaching at the university level. I also conducted translation research and addressed issues affecting the aging workforce at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, an agency of the CDC. Additionally, I have received specialized training in freelance medical writing and technical writing, which improve my ability to create accurate, clear, and audience-focused content.

Do you work with a team, or are you a solo freelancer?

I am primarily a solo freelance medical writer, which lets me offer personalized attention and flexibility to each project. However, I am always open to collaborating with other professionals in your organization when extra expertise or support is needed, whether that involves working with your in-house team, subject matter experts, or other specialists. My goal is always to deliver the best results that meet your health communication needs.

Services and Projects

How do you ensure the accuracy and quality of your work?

Accuracy and quality are fundamental to my writing process. I begin by conducting thorough research using reliable, evidence-based sources such as peer-reviewed journals, reputable medical organizations, and trusted publications. Every piece is carefully fact-checked to ensure clarity and correctness. I also follow industry-appropriate style guides to maintain consistency and professionalism. Throughout the project, I’ll stay in regular communication with you to ask questions, clarify details, and confirm accuracy, so the final content reflects both medical integrity and your unique goals.

How do you handle sensitive information and confidentiality?

Protecting client information and sensitive content is my top priority. I utilize secure file-sharing methods to ensure documents and data are transmitted safely. If necessary, I am willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to formalize confidentiality expectations. Additionally, I adhere to strict professional ethics, HIPAA-compliant writing, and other regulatory standards. I treat all patient-related, business, and proprietary information as confidential and handle it with the utmost discretion.

Work Process and Logistics

Do you require a deposit or upfront payment?

Yes. I require a minimum of 25% upfront to begin work. The remaining balance can be divided into a payment schedule based on project milestones, deliverables, and other agreed-upon factors.
